Jerry Springer Exposed: Netflix Doc Reveals The Wild Truth Behind The Chaos

The docuseries will examine ‘The Jerry Springer Show.’

The Netflix documentary, ‘Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action,’ exposes Jerry Springer’s behind-the-scenes truth.

Recently, Netflix released a new trailer for ‘Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action,’ which takes a behind-the-scenes look at Springer’s journey, from being a calm Cincinnati mayor to hosting the ‘most vile and grotesque freak show’ on TV.

While ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ became a daytime hit, its shocking drama and fights left many lives permanently affected. “This jaw-dropping, premium two-part series will tell the story of ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ as it’s never been told before,” Netflix detailed the docuseries in a synopsis.

The synopsis continued, “Packed with extraordinary first-hand testimony and revelations from show insiders, the series explores how this daytime talk show became one of the biggest and most outrageous TV hits of the nineties.”

“But behind the entertaining facade lay some darker truths. As we hear from the producers and ex-guests of The Jerry Springer Show, a murkier picture begins to emerge of the destruction it caused, raising renewed questions about who was responsible, and how far things should go in the name of entertainment,” it added.

In the documentary trailer, Springer, who passed away in April 2023 after a short illness, says, “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise for everything I’ve ever done, I have ruined the culture.”

A voiceover also shares, “The bigger that show got, it raised questions about what really went on backstage.” The teaser shows new interviews with the show’s staff.

The trailer ends with a police car with flashing lights, then cuts to Springer in court. In the old video, Springer defends himself, saying, “It’s a television show. We will all survive it.”

Springer stayed active in TV, radio, and podcasts until he retired in 2022. His last show, ‘Judge Jerry,’ ran for three seasons and ended in March 2022. A year after retiring, Springer died at 79 from pancreatic cancer.

The two-part documentary about Springer’s talk show premieres on Netflix on January 7, 2025.
