‘Blade: Trinity’ star Jessica Biel uploaded photos of certain children’s books’ covers on Instagram, on June 11, and advised parents to talk to their kids about race and equality. Biel started her words with:
“To all the moms and dads out there…”
And the mother of an only child continued:
“It’s our responsibility to actively educate our little ones to create a better future. To say it simply, we HAVE to talk to our kids about race. We have to teach them that we are all equal, and that hurting someone because of the color of their skin is not, and has never been okay.”
The 38-year-old actress mentioned about the importance of reading on raising anti-racist children:
“Reading is such a great way to do that. I’m sharing a list of some of the children’s books I’ve found really helpful.” ⠀
In return to this post, Jessica Biel’s followers left the following comments:
“I believe education is key. Being a white mother I would by my kids dolls of different races. Why because I come from an all white family and don’t have any black friends so my kids needed to see there are different color people. I teach all my kids love is love. Whether white, black, asian, transgender, or gay” said, Amanda.
“Thank you Jessica. This advice is important for grandparents, aunts & uncles too. The books we read to ours children, and what we hear from them and discuss afterword can be an influence in the entire family” added, Lis Ballou.
