Academy Award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix and ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ actress Rooney Mara named their baby boy River, according to Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky.
Kossakovsky who is the director of ‘Gunda’ executive produced by Phoenix, revealed the name of the baby during a Q&A session at the 2020 Zurich Film Festival. When he was asked about the actor’s involvement in the movie, Kossakovsky said:
“He just got a baby, by the way. His name was a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote it now.”
Mara and Phoenix, who are engaged in 2019, named the baby after Phoenix’s late brother River Phoenix. Actor, musician, and activist River passed away of a drug overdose on October 31, 1993. He was at age 23.
