John Cena On Competing The ’Superman’ Henry Cavill At The Gym

The WWE wrestler recently shared the screen with the ‘Superman’ actor in Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Argylle.’

At the recent London premiere of the 2024 movie ‘Argyll,’ John Cena opened up about his role and experience working with co-star Henry Cavill. He spoke about his dynamic with Cavill, saying:

“I always operate under the construct of never be the smartest person in the room, and when I get to perform across Henry Cavill, that’s a chance to sit under the learning tree. And man, he has a gravity to him. No doubt. I hope this isn’t the last for the both of us.”

When asked about working out with the Superman actor at the gym, the wrestler added:

“He would wear me out. I have a lot of gratitude for where I’m at, but man, I know when I’m punching above my weight class. He would wear me out.”

Henry Cavill is known for his intense workout routines, especially while preparing for his role as Superman. His gym achievements include lifting a deadlift of 435 pounds, squatting 365 pounds, and bench pressing 300 pounds. On the other hand, Cena has a record of a 462-pound bench press, a 632-pound squat, and a 650-pound deadlift.

The Wrestler Is Ready To Retire

John Cena, who began his fitness journey at 13, earned a name for himself in WWE, becoming a 16-time world champion. His recent shift towards acting, with roles in ‘Peacemaker’ and ‘Argyll,’ has been noticeable since he also mentioned considering retirement from wrestling, citing his age as a reason:

“I turned 47 this past year, and I don’t have much time left in the WWE. I think it’s just the demand of age. You know, I’m trying to figure out when to close that chapter.”

During his chat with People, the wrestler shared:

“I wouldn’t be who I am — professionally or personally — without the WWE, and I promised myself that I would never simply just be there for my own sake. Every time I perform, I want to give my all to the audience. And I’ve got to admit, when I hit the 45 mark, I had to begin to try to form an exit strategy, and I’m trying to work on that currently.”
