Johnny Depp went to Instagram to tell the world that his latest feature ‘Crock of Gold – A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowen‘ is now out to watch in theaters as of the date of December 1.
Depp, who obligatory resigned from his role as ‘Gellert Grindelwald‘ in the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3’ after he had lost a libel case regarding his ex-wife Amber Heard, shared an official poster art for the movie, directed by Julien Temple, best known for ‘The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle,’ and announced its release date with the following message:
“‘Crock of Gold – A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan’ will be in theatres across the USA & Canada on Dec 1st for a one-night-only special event.”
What’s more, the highly anticipated documentary, which follows Shane MacGowan, the lead singer and songwriter of the Pogues, will be released on December 4 in UK & Éire cinemas and on December 17 in Australia. Also, it will be available to watch through digital platforms and DVDs as of the date of December 4.
Apart from making a cameo Depp, known as a loyal friend of MacGowan, co-produced the project, which had its premiere in September at the San Sebastian Film Festival and which grabbed the special jury prize there. Alongside the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ actor Victoria Mary Clarke, Siobhan MacGowan, Gerry Adams and Ann Scanlon also will appear in the 124 minute-long documentary.
According to the press statement for the documentary, it includes unseen archival footage, animation from Ralph Steadman and exclusive interviews with MacGowan friends and family. During an interview, Depp tells a story about adopting an Irish accent because of his friend MacGowan.
