Johnny Depp fell out of favor with many in Hollywood during his legal battle with Amber Heard. So, the actor didn’t hold back from digging at the studios and their approach to filmmaking in a new chat with Metro:
“They’re disposable and they realize it. Glorified accountants who have the ability to press the green light and make studio films… but they press the green light, they spent sh*tloads of money. Budgets are ridiculous on these films… some romantic comedy with two very popular people. People — the real people — they’re sick of it.”
Depp didn’t land any Hollywood roles since he lost parts in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ franchises due to Heard’s abuse allegations.
From Hollywood To French Cinema
The Jack Sparrow actor turned his focus to Europe in recent years and starred in Maïwenn’s French-language film, ‘Jeanne du Barry.’ The 2023 film had a smaller budget than many of his previous Hollywood projects, but he had no complaints about the change.
He talked about the actors’ desires and explained:
“By and large, for the majority of the years I’ve been wandering around aimlessly talking to people, they really want the same thing. They don’t want to be fed dreck. They’re happy when they experience something new or different. So that’s why I’ve always felt, as an actor, it’s your responsibility. When you come out of the gate each time… you’re putting as much at stake as anybody.”
