In 2022, when actor Johnny Depp was accused of violence against his ex-wife, the Walt Disney Company cut ties with him on all projects, and he has since received few offers from Hollywood. However, after winning the case, it appears that his name is back on the studio’s agenda. According to Variety, the sixth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film is still in development, and there is a possibility that Depp could return to the franchise.

Sources cited by the news outlet say Disney has not officially reached out to Depp, but series producer Jerry Bruckheimer is still preparing for possible scripts. As previously reported, two scripts for the ‘Pirates’ franchise are being developed simultaneously; one involving Depp’s character, Captain Jack Sparrow, and the other without.

No details about the plot of the new movie have been revealed yet, but a spinoff movie starring Margot Robbie is said to be in production.

Depp previously stated during his testimony that there was “nothing on this Earth” that could convince him to work with Disney again.

Last year, Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, mentioned that the new story would respect the legacy of the previous films while introducing something fresh.
