Jonathan Majors Is Sad To See Robert Downey Jr. As Doctor Doom

Majors lost his role after Marvel dropped him due to legal issues.

Jonathan Majors recently shared that he is very sad about Robert Downey Jr. taking over his role as the main villain in the next ‘Avengers’ movies.

Majors, who played Kang the Conqueror, told TMZ that he was heartbroken when he heard the news:

“Yeah, heartbroken. Of course. I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though.”

Majors was supposed to be a big part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kang was set up to be the next major villain similar to Thanos. He was expected to appear in ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.’ This movie has been canceled and will be replaced by ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which will star Downey as Doctor Doom.

Majors Thinks It’s Fair, Though

Downey’s return as Doctor Doom was announced at Comic-Con earlier this month. He will star in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ in 2026 and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in 2027. Majors said it was fair for RDJ to be welcomed back despite his past issues:

“I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love … and [he’s] being allowed to work [his] art and be creative at that level. I didn’t really get that.”

Marvel dropped Majors after he was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault in December. This happened on the same day he was convicted. Majors was arrested on March 25, 2023, after his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, accused him of assaulting her. She said he hurt her finger while grabbing his phone from her and hit her on the back of her head.

Majors was found not guilty of some charges but guilty of others. He lost his talent manager, Entertainment 360, and his publicity firm, the Lede Company.

Majors says he still would love to return to the MCU as Kang if Marvel and the fans want him back.

Robert Downey Jr. had his own legal troubles in the past. In 1996, he was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine, and an unloaded gun. He was still cast as Tony Stark in the 2008 movie ‘Iron Man’ and has been a major part of the MCU ever since.
