A few months after the court found him guilty of assault and harassment, Jonathan Majors secured his first major role in ‘Merciless.’ He’ll start filming in Saskatchewan, later this year.
The film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve’s brother, Martin Villeneuve, from a script written by Frank Hannah. ‘Sound of Freedom’ producer, Christopher Tuffin, will manage the production.
The Roles Majors Lost Due To His Legal Cases
Jonathan Majors lost several roles after his January conviction for domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Marvel Studios removed him from his role as Kang the Conqueror in future projects, including two ‘Avengers’ films.
The actor was also fired from the NBA biopic ‘48 Hours in Vegas,’ and his 2023 drama ‘Magazine Dreams’ was dropped by Disney’s Searchlight Pictures.
The Actor’s Part In The Upcoming Film
Now, Majors plays a CIA interrogator who goes out of his way to take down a dangerous threat that overtakes his wife in ‘Merciless.’ Villeneuve says about the plot:
“‘Merciless’ intertwines themes of possession, revenge, and personal justice within a haunting narrative. It explores the psychological descent of John, played by Majors, and the supernatural forces challenging his sanity.”
The production team includes Kevin Townsend, Kevin DeWalt, Amanda Delaplaine, Chris Ochs, Andrew Bates, and Ben DeWalt.
