Juliette Lewis Expresses Her Regret On Not Having Protected Herself Enough Both On Personal And Professional Life

Hollywood actor Juliette Lewis, the recipient of numerous acting award nominations including Golden Globe, Emmy, and Academy Award, shared a highly inspiring and heartfelt post at the same time, on April 22, through her verified Instagram account.

The actor, best known for her appearances in cult films such as ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,’ ‘Natural Born Killers,’ and ‘From Dusk Till Dawn‘ expressed her regret regarding her past via the mentioned post. Lewis first released a photo of herself, which sees her singing on a stage and showing her muscles like saying “I’m powerful.”

Alongside the photo, the 47-year-old wrote that she wishes that she could say she protected her fiercely as she should have, by addressing the woman in the photo, as a different person. Then Lewis continued by mentioning her partners who did not bring joy and love to her life:

“I wish I could say I kept her healthy, vibrant, and ever-learning, creatively challenged… but instead the partners I chose, even though at first would say how they admired her, she was unlike anyone, they respected her stage presence, her film career, saw her love and commitment to them &creating a partnership and magic life bla bla, and even seem to get her humor and seemed amused and charmed by her.”

In her message, ‘The Other Sister’ star also stated that she has always been degraded by overly sexualizing her work; so much so that, her relationships were impacted by it. Implying that she is highly sick of all of these labels, Lewis continued her message as follows:

“Once in a relationship my work is problematic, my kindness communication/expressiveness -when she’s so much vaster than sexuality and playful! She’s playful and kind and funny and ferocious with purpose and driven and deeply empathetic and sensitive. Because she is an artist.”

She concluded her words by apologizing “this girl” for not having protected her from hostility and added:

“But honestly I think they knew better. And I should protect her better. Cuz WTF Where would I be without her.”

As soon as the Hollywood star released the post, well-known names flooded the comments section with highly kind messages. Here are some of them:

It takes a very empowered man to really meet this girl where she deserves to be met. I love you, J” wrote, Jennifer Garner.

This girl always inspired me” added, Alyssa Milano.
