The filming for ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ has officially finished, several months ahead of its expected release date.
The fourth movie in the ‘Jurassic World’ series is now heading into post-production. Producer Frank Marshall confirmed on Instagram over the weekend that production was done. He simply wrote “That’s a wrap!” in the caption. The team will now focus on adding the film’s complex visual effects, like the scenes with dinosaurs.
The new Jurassic World movie didn’t have a director or a cast in place when Universal Pictures announced it earlier this year. ‘ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ director Gareth Edwards was hired in February to direct the film. The casting process wrapped up in the summer. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Ed Skrein, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo joined the project. Filming then started and was completed in less than a year.
‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ brings back original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp to write the script. The movie is set five years after the events of ‘Jurassic World Dominion.’ Dinosaurs are only surviving in a few isolated tropical environments in this story because the planet is now too harsh for them to live in most places.
The plot follows Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett. She leads a secret mission to collect genetic material from three enormous dinosaurs that are believed to hold the key to developing a drug with life-saving abilities. Things take a dangerous turn when her team crosses paths with a family whose boat was attacked by aquatic dinosaurs. They end up stranded on an island and discover a shocking secret that’s been hidden from the world for many years.
‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ is set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025. This is just over nine months from now, so the team will probably need to work hard to meet the movie’s release date.
