Hollywood actor Justin Long took to social media on February 2, on Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s 7th anniversary of his passing to remember him.
The ‘Comet‘ star released a TBT photo of Hoffman through his verified Instagram account and mentioned a night out he had shared with him in the caption section. Long began his message by saying that it has been 7 seven years since the ‘Capote’ actor passed away, and then recalled the night:
“Phil was telling a really funny story about an embarrassing thing (…) he stood up from the table and committed to a full-body mime of it, while laughing his great big wheezy laugh.”
According to what he stated in his message, while Seymour was telling the story, Long became a little self-conscious to see people’s reaction and noticed that everyone around the restaurant was staring at him because he was laughing so hard while his face turning pink and his eyes were watering.
On that night, ‘Live Free or Die Hard‘ actor realized that Seymour was living the story he was told without a hint of self-consciousness. Describing it as something he will never forget and always aspire to, the actor concluded his tribute as follows even though he already knew that there would never a night like that:
“I can’t wait to have another night out with friends at a place like El Compadre, telling stories and laughing – but I don’t think I’ll ever have a night quite like that one, because nobody tells stories or laughs with quite as much abandon as Phil did 😌❤️”
As known, Seymour, who has been marked as “the most ambitious and widely admired American actor of his generation” by his New York Times obituary, passed away of combined drug intoxication, on February 2, 2014.
