Katee Sackhoff Reveals Tricia Helfer Dispute And Set Conditions For ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Reboot

She said her decision depends on the script and the team involved.

In a recent interview on the podcast ‘Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum,’ Katee Sackhoff opened up about her past experiences on ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and her conditions for joining the much-anticipated reboot. Sackhoff also shed light on a disagreement she had with co-star Tricia Helfer.

On the topic of the upcoming ‘Battlestar Galactica’ reboot, Sackhoff expressed openness to reprising her role with certain conditions:

“It depends on the script. … It would depend on who was involved in the script, for sure, and who was in charge.”

When Rosenbaum asked her if she would join the reboot without seeing the script, Sackhoff simply responded with a ‘No.’ Reflecting on her time on ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ which aired from 2004 to 2009, Sackhoff spoke fondly of the cast, describing them as a family. However, she revealed that this close-knit group wasn’t without its conflicts:

“I love that cast. We are a family. Everyone involved. And look, we’re like family, we’ve had some sh*t, we’ve had some moments, like, out of work. It’s been 20 or 25 years since we started. It’s been a long time, and there’s a lot of different personalities. You can rub people the wrong way.

Tricia Helfer and I got into a fight; she’s one of my best friends. Obviously, we weren’t hitting each other, but we had it. We went at each other. [We were] not screaming, but like, really heated. And, you know, we made it through.”

In the interview, Sackhoff also touched on her broader career, including her roles in ‘The Mandalorian’ and as the voice of Bo-Katan in ‘Star Wars.’ She candidly spoke about her battle with thyroid cancer, diagnosed towards the end of filming ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ and her journey to remission by February 2009.

Is ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Getting Rebooted?

The ‘Battlestar Galactica’ reboot was first announced in 2019. Since then, it has undergone several changes, including the recent appointment of Derek Simonds as the new showrunner. Simonds joins executive producers Sam Esmail and Chad Hamilton in what is slated to be a fresh take on the sci-fi saga.

According to what Esmail said towards the end of 2023, the reboot has been in good shape, and their primary goal is to stay true to the original show:

“If it’s not up to that caliber, then there’s no point in making it.”

The reboot is in development for Peacock, and it follows the success of the original series.

As for Tricia, she is set to star in ‘Occupation Rainfall: Chapter 2,‘ ‘The Great Salish Heist,‘ and ‘Hello Beautiful,’ while Katee has only one project on the horizon, ‘The Last Transport,‘ where she’ll star as Olivia Fox.
