‘Scandal’ star Kerry Washington took to her verified Instagram account the other day and posted a throwback photo from the days she was a student at George Washington University in order to promote her upcoming film ‘The Prom.’
Alongside the photo, in which she appears in a colorful blouse and 90s style jeans, she wrote:
“Theatre Kid throwback. This is me backstage at Lisner Auditorium freshman year at GWU.”
Then the Hollywood star, who is gearing up to appear in ‘The Prom’ as ‘Mrs. Greene,’ the head of the PTA, continued by saying if her younger age version knew that she would be in a Broadway musical, that will be streamed through Netflix, she would probably first ask what Netflix is, and then she would have gone crazy.
Washington concluded her words by thanking the entire crew, including Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Keegan-Michael Key, Awkwafina, Andrew Rannells, Ariana Grande, and the director, Ryan Murphy:
“SOOOOOO crazy excited and grateful to @mrrpmurphy and to this entire cast and crew. @promnetflix coming FRIDAY!”
Following the post, the official Instagram account for George Washington University wrote as a comment to congratulate the actor for her upcoming film:
“Congratulations, Kerry! We’re so proud to see you continuing to #RaiseHigh 💙”
The forthcoming musical comedy, in which Washington plays a negative role by portraying the head of the Parent-teacher association, who banned student ‘Emma Nolan,’ portrayed by Jo Ellen Pellman from bringing her girlfriend to the high school prom, is coming to Netflix on December 11, 2020.
On December 4, before the streaming platform, the film, based on Matthew Sklar‘s Broadway musical of the same name, was theatrically released in a few salons across the country.
