Kevin Conroy Isn’t Done With ‘Batman’ Even After His Death

Despite his passing, he will be in one more Batman show.

According to IGN, Kevin Conroy, the voice synonymous with Batman for over three decades, is set to feature in one more role as the Dark Knight, despite his passing in November 2022.

While many believed that ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,’ released in early access on January 29, 2024, would be Conroy’s final bow as Batman, sources have revealed that fans will get to hear him once more in an upcoming animated feature.

IGN reports that Conroy’s voice will be heard posthumously as Bruce Wayne/Batman in ‘Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 3,’ reprising his role from ‘Batman: The Animated Series.’ The news comes after speculation about his final contributions to the character, with the first part of the ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ trilogy having been released earlier this month.

Release dates for Parts 2 and 3 are still pending.

Conroy’s Legacy as Batman

Conroy, who died at the age of 66 from intestinal cancer in New York City, had not publicly disclosed his illness. Despite this, his legacy as the voice of Batman remains, starting with ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ in 1992 and extending through dozens of animated television series, feature films, and video games.

Conroy’s participation in the animated series ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ was a topic of discussion, with Bruce Timm clarifying on Animesuperhero.com that, although Conroy was eager to be involved, his passing prevented this collaboration.

‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ is a Sequel of ‘Batman: Arkham’ Series

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League‘ is a continuation of the Batman: Arkham series, developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. The game introduces a new narrative, following supervillains from the Suicide Squad in Metropolis, with the open-world design allowing for single-player or cooperative gameplay.

The game itself has seen multiple delays, finally launching for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on February 2, 2024, after an early access period. A prequel comic, ‘Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum,‘ bridges the gap between ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ and the latest release.

The release of ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ was met with mixed reactions, particularly regarding a scene that many felt did not serve as a fitting farewell to Conroy’s Batman.
