Kirsten Dunst Admits She Needs Another Superhero Movie For The Money

She has kids and her mom to support, and superhero movies pay well.

It seems Kirsten Dunst won’t return as Mary Jane any time soon, but she really needs that role.

Dunst played many different characters since she was three years old, but Mary Jane is one she’s really known for. She recently shared with GQ Magazine that she wasn’t asked to come back for 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ But why does Dunst want to return? She was very open about it:

“You get paid a lot of money.”

She was surprised that not many people talk about this reason, saying:

“Really? That’s the reason people do those movies!”

She told Marie Claire the same thing in March but added that she needs it for her family:

“Because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother.”

Kirsten also said if they had asked her, she definitely would have returned to play Mary Jane again.

Dunst Admits She Didn’t Watch ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Kirsten hasn’t watched ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ yet, but she’s interested in how the movie brought back characters. She also said she would love to see how Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s story could continue. The actress imagines it could be done in an indie style, kind of like the movie ‘Chronicle.’

Kirsten first became part of the superhero scene with Spider-Man in the early 2000s. Looking back at those times, she says  she felt like they were making a special kind of movie:

“It was more innocent, I think. Sam Raimi was like a cult director, so it felt like we were making an indie disguised as a superhero film.”

Dunst also said she wouldn’t mind doing a sequel to ‘Bring It On.’ She admitted she’s a bit picky with her roles these days but is open to coming back as Torrance Shipman if the story is good.

Her next movie, ‘Civil War,’ comes out on April 12.
