Kirsten Dunst Believes Fans Don’t Need ‘Spider-Man 4’ With Her

She worries that too much time has passed to create a new story that would be interesting.

Kirsten Dunst is not sure it’s a good idea to bring her character back after all this time.

More than a decade has passed since Dunst last appeared as MJ in 2007’s ‘Spider-Man 3.’ There were new Spider-Man movies after that. Tobey Maguire made a surprise appearance in one of them — 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ His cameo led to talks about a possible ‘Spider-Man 4’ with Dunst and Maguire.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Dunst expressed doubts about that. She said:

“I don’t think we need that. I don’t know. It was so long ago. I just don’t know how they would, what the story would be. I don’t know. It seems like … I don’t know! It would really depend on the script, and also, I don’t know, you’re really putting yourself out there in a way that … let’s maybe leave things when they were good. You know what I mean?”

Sam Raimi’s Statements May Disappoint You

Raimi also spoke about the rumors regarding a fourth movie. He said that although he loves the new Spider-Man films, he is not currently working on ‘Spider-Man 4’ and doubts he will be asked to:

“Well, I haven’t heard about that yet – I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet. …  I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.”

Dunst had the opportunity to return as MJ in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ but she was not asked to join the film. Maguire’s character hinted that he and MJ are still together in the movie.

Dunst is currently focusing on different projects. She is starring in Alex Garland’s new movie ‘Civil War.’
