Marvel remained quiet about Kit Harington’s future in the MCU since the release of ‘Eternals.’ The studio reportedly shelved any sequels due to the 2021 film’s low box office earnings.
Harington himself didn’t give any details on his return as The Black Knight so far but reflected on the role in a recent chat with GQ. “I’m not gonna pretend I took that [role] because it was different and interesting. If Marvel calls, you gotta do it,” he explained.
The Chloe Zhao-directed film’s post-credits scene hinted at the actor’s appearance in the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot. Marvel brought in Mahershala Ali to play the title role in the franchise, though the production faced many delays since its announcement in 2019.
Bassam Tariq joined the project as director at first but left in September 2022, only two months before filming was supposed to start. The latest director, Yann Demange, also quit the production in June while Marvel added Eric Pearson to the writers’ room. The studio worked with other screewriters like Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Michael Starrbury over the years, as well.
Plans for ‘Blade’ are uncertain right now, but the reboot is still expected to see release in November 2025.
