‘Kite Man: Hell Yeah!’ Producer Shares Details On Lance Reddick’s Final DC Role

The actor passed away due to a heart disease in March 2023.

Lance Reddick voiced Lex Luthor in ‘Kite Man: Hell Yeah!’ before he passed away. The animated show’s producer, Dean Lorey, reflected on working with him in a recent chat with ComicBook.

The late actor took over the DC role from Giancarlo Esposito, who voiced him in the ‘Harley Quinn’ series. Lorey said of his performance:

“He was wonderful. We all loved him. We loved working with him, and we loved his take on Lex. Giancarlo [Esposito] was terrific, and he played Lex a little more as a businessman and all of that, which we thought was great; but what Lance brought in was more gravity to him, maybe a little bit more depth. We just so warmed to his take.”

He added:

“Obviously, it was a giant shock to us, as it was to everybody, when he passed. But he’d, luckily, completed recording most of his episodes, so we were glad that we at least had that we could give people. But we really loved him.”

The Late Actor’s Final Works

Lance Reddick played opposite Matt Oberg as Kite Man, Stephanie Hsu as Golden Glider, James Adomian as Bane, Natasia Demetriou as Malice, and more in ‘Kite Man: Hell Yeah!’ The show debuted on Max on July 18.

The actor made posthumous appearances in other projects as well. The Season 1 finale of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians,’ featuring him as Zeus, aired with a tribute message for him in February. His latest live-action film, ‘Shirley,’ premiered on Netflix a month later.

Now, Reddick’s final screen appearance in ‘John Wick Presents: Ballerina’ is waiting for release on June 6, 2025. He reprises his role as Charon from ‘John Wick: Chapter 4.’
