LaKeith Stanfield Admits He Was Waiting To Be Cast As Silver Surfer

Julia Garner will play Shalla-Bal, not LaKeith Stanfield as many expected.

LaKeith Stanfield didn’t get the Silver Surfer role, but he was really hoping for it.

Stanfield thought he might become the Silver Surfer. However, it was recently announced that ‘Ozark’s Julia Garner will play Shalla-Bal. LaKeith posted a message on Instagram that he later deleted after learning the news. As per ComicBookMovie, it read:

“Thought it was going to be me, but ig.”

Shalla-Bal is a character closely related to the Silver Surfer but not the Surfer himself, as many know him.

Stanfield Isn’t the Only One

Another actor, Nicholas Galitzine, shared that he was also hoping to play Johnny Storm in ‘The Fantastic Four.’ Unfortunately for Galitzine, the role went to Joseph Quinn instead.

‘The Fantastic Four’ cast currently has Pedro Pascal playing Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (the Thing).

Matt Shakman is directing the movie, and Josh Friedman, Cam Squires, and Eric Pearson are writing the story.

‘The Fantastic Four’ will premiere on July 25, 2025.
