Lee Jung-Jae Insists ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Will Be Even Better Than First Season

Lee Jung-Jae shares details about the upcoming new season of ‘Squid Game.’

According to Lee Jung-Jae, the second season of ‘Squid Game’ will be better than the first.

The actor recently spoke to Radio Times and said the second season is ‘even more interesting’ and is excited for audiences to meet the new characters:

“I think the script for season 2 is even more interesting than season 1, and there is going to be a new set of characters as well. So I think the audience is going to be really excited about it. One thing I felt while reading the script is that there is an even deeper emotion that’s discovered within season 2, and also I think the audience will feel like, ‘Where is this story going?’ Because there’s so many twists and turns that happen.”

Released in September 2021, the first season of ‘Squid Game’ received positive reviews. It follows 456 debt-ridden players who compete in deadly children’s games for a chance to win 45.6 billion Won. Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show became a pop culture hit.

The Show Creator’s Words On Second Season

It also received many award nominations, including 14 at the Primetime Emmy Awards. Lee Jung-jae won for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Plot details for ‘Squid Game’ season 2 are mostly unknown, but creator Hwang Dong-hyuk previously shared that it will focus on the mysterious Front Man, played by Lee Byung-hun:

“While I was writing season one, I thought about the stories that could be in season two if I get to do one – one would be the story of the Frontman.”

In the second season, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun will return, along with new cast members Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.
