It was announced that Lifetime TV canceled Abby Lee Miller’s ‘Virtual Dance-Off’ series because of accusations of racism.
One of the moms on season 8 of the show ‘Dance Moms‘, Adriana Smith claimed that her 7-year-old daughter Kamryn was exposed to racist behavior by dance instructor and choreographer Abby Lee Miller. And Adriana Smith wrote through Instagram as follows:
“A statement from her that sticks in my mind to this day inside my time on DMS8 is ‘I know you spent your youth in the HOOD with only a box of 8 crayons, but I spent my youth in the Country Club with a box of 64 — don’t be stupid.”
Following to other moms who accused her in the same way, Miller apologized by saying the followings:
“…to Kamryn, Adriana, and anyone else I’ve hurt. I realize that racism can come not just from hate, but also from ignorance. … I promise to educate myself, learn, grow, and do better.”
However, this apology was not enough for Lifetime TV and networks to go forward with the dance competition show ‘Abby’s Virtual Dance-Off.’
Besides, in case ‘Dance Moms’ is renewed for season 9, Abby Lee Miller won’t return the show.
