Actress Lilly Collins, who will be starring in the upcoming series ‘Emily in Paris’ this year, took to Instagram to encourage her fans and followers to vote in the 2020 United States presidential election.
Collins uploaded a photo of herself that sees her placing her ballot in the ballot box, from the day of 2008 Presidental Election was held. Alongside the photo, she remembered her first voting and told of what she had felt that day.
“This was 2008. I was 19, so it was the first presidential year I was eligible to vote. I was working for Nickelodeon at the time, part of their show called Kids Pick the President. We spoke to people about the vote and how kids could get involved. I had done a lot of research, asked a lot of questions. That Election Day, it truly felt like I had just been part of history.”
The ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ actress reminded that September 22 is National Voter Registration Day, and stated voting is quite important to achieve peace and equality all around the nation.
“Today is #NationalVoterRegistrationDay, and I’m encouraging all of you guys to make a plan to vote. If you care about peace, equality, women’s rights, education, free speech… VOTE! Your voice does matter, even in all of this noise…”
Following the post, apart from the numerous comments followers left to thank her for using her platform for a good cause, the official Instagram account for Nickelodeon wrote:
“Thanks so much for continuing to educate others on the importance of voting 😊”
