The television network, The CW is developing A live-action remake of the classic Cartoon Network series, ‘The Powerpuff Girls.’ According to a statement obtained by PEOPLE magazine, a spokesman for the network said regarding the new version of the cartoon:
“The ‘Powerpuff Girls’ used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twenty-somethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?”
As known, ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ ran for 6 seasons and 78 episodes on Cartoon Network in 1998-2005 and nominated for six Emmy Awards, nine Annie Awards, and a Kids’ Choice Award.
In the live-action of superhero animated television series, created by Craig McCracken, Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom will be seen as adults rather than three kindergarteners.
The updated version of the series will be written by Diablo Cody, who wrote ‘Juno’ and ’United States of Tara,’ and Heather Regnier, the scriptwriter of ‘Veronica Mars.’ What’s more, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television will produce.
