Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum attended the D23 Brazil event this weekend, answering questions about a possible third season of ‘Loki.’ He didn’t share much about the matter but told CinePop, “There’s always a chance” for more of Loki’s adventures.
Loki’s presence in the MCU is currently unseen as he sacrificed himself using his powers to unite different timelines and save them from destruction. Both Tom Hiddleston and co-star Sophia Di Martino shared their satisfaction with the conclusion in previous interviews.
Di Martino said at an Emmy screening for ‘Loki’ in April that Marvel’s secrecy about future projects extended to the cast members and she had no idea if there would be a Season 3, though she’d be willing to return if the series were to continue.
Hiddleston shared similar thoughts with Variety at the Miami Film Festival, saying, “I truthfully don’t know [about Season 3]. I am so proud of where we landed in Season 2. To go from this lost, broken soul in Asgard, and be given a second chance and learn so much about life that he actually gives himself to protect other people, has been such an honor.”
In later chats, the actor added that there was more to tell about Loki in the MCU and he would take on the role again. “In terms of scratching the surface, I mean, he’s a character who’s been around for almost 3,000 years, and he represents unpredictability, boundary-crossing, disruption, and the question mark,” he explained to Collider in September. “So, I feel like if I ever got a chance to play the character again, there are 1,000 things I haven’t done. He’s constantly changing, as are we all.”
‘Loki’ also starred Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ke Huy Quan, and Jonathan Majors in its cast. Majors played the main villain of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga in the series and other projects until Marvel fired him due to his recent assault charges.
The storyline involving Kang the Conqueror is on hold. The MCU’s new major villain is Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, set to appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
There are no details about Phase 6’s plot, but if rumors are true, Doom might face off Loki for control of the Multiverse in the upcoming movies.
