Sophia Di Martino recently shared her interest in playing a spy.
Di Martino, who also narrates on Spyscape’s True Spies podcast, told CinemaBlend she’d want to take on a spy role instead of being a Bond girl:
“I would love to play a spy. I dunno about like a Bond girl, but I would love to play a spy for sure. Little gun, a little sharp suit. Yeah. I love all that. I’ve got quite into it, narrating that podcast. Some of the stories are absolutely fascinating … like Bletchley Park and all that.”
James Bond Role is Expected to Remain Male
Not to disappoint Di Martino, but Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said the following in 2021:
“He can be of any color, but he is male. I believe we should be creating new characters for women — strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”
The search for the next James Bond continues since Daniel Craig ended his 15-year run as the character in 2021. Many names were suggested, but there have been no definitive updates. Broccoli said in February that there was no script yet, and they were still deciding on the direction for the next film. She also said that filming is likely at least two years away.
