Tom Hiddleston described playing Loki as a ‘great surprise and delight of my whole life’ in a recent chat with The Wrap. He explained:
“The great surprise for me is that it’s been a joy every time. It’s never felt like the same job. It’s always felt new. It’s always felt inspiring for different reasons — different actors, different stories, different themes. And yet all the way through a depth and a range of feeling.”
The God of Mischief took on various roles from a villain to an anti-hero throughout the years. The actor said of his complexity:
“I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to play this complex, deep, ancient, elevated character that represents playfulness, spontaneity, unpredictability. What a sandbox to play in.”
Will Loki Ever Come Back?
Loki appeared in several ‘Thor’ and ‘Avengers’ films as well as his own show and some episodes of ‘What If…?’ He said goodbye last year by sacrificing himself for the Multiverse and becoming the God of Stories.
Tom Hiddleston previously shared about possibly returning for more stories:
“I truthfully don’t know. I am so proud of where we landed in Season 2. To go from this lost, broken soul in Asgaard, and be given a second chance and learn so much about life that he actually gives himself to protect other people, has been such an honor.”
Some rumors suggest that the actor may return in the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ but nothing is confirmed so far. Hiddleston refused to clarify his involvement in the new MCU film.
