Netflix’s ‘Never Have I Ever‘ star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is beyond happy with her debut film role!
On June 2, the 19-year-old actor, who has been nominated multiple awards for her performance in the said Netflix sitcom as high school student ‘Devi Vishwakumar,’ jumped into her verified Instagram account both to confirm the news regarding the upcoming film ‘The Netherfield Girls,’ which is based on Jane Austen’s ‘Pride & Prejudice,’ and to express her excitement about becoming a part of it.
The 19-year-old star first released a screenshot of the Variety report which reads, “Never Have I Ever Actor Maitreyi Ramakrishnan to Star in Netflix Rom-Com The Netherfield Girls,” and then added a short message in order to celebrate it. Alongside the screenshot, Ramakrishnan wrote that she waited so long to announce the great news, and continued as follows:
“Here you go! I’m so excited. @beccamillergleason is such a homie to me already. Couldn’t ask for a better first feature film. Time to do Jane Austen proud.”
As soon as the young star released the mentioned post, her ‘Never Have I Ever’ co-star Darren Barnet jumped into the comments section and left the following message: “ayeeee proud of you :)”
According to the Variety report, the film described as a contemporary version of the original Austen story will be written and directed by Becca Gleason. In the film, whose other cast members have not been announced yet, Ramakrishnan is going to portray heroine ‘Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bennett.’
What’s more, ‘The Netherfield Girls,’ which will be a romantic comedy, is set to release through Netflix.
