‘This is Us’ star Mandy Moore took to Instagram the other day to declare in sorrow that she lost her dog, Joni, very unexpectedly. Moore posted a photo of her beloved four-legged friend, and expressed that Joni passed away due to complications from the surgery performed to remove a mass on her liver. In her message she also said:
“I knew something was amiss when she, lifelong food-obsessed, didn’t finish her dinner and couldn’t get comfortable in bed (despite being on pain meds). My mama intuition told me to bring her in and I’m glad we did.”
After sharing the devastating news with millions of followers, the actor & singer recalled the day she first met with Joni. As she wrote, Moore saw Joni in early 2008 at The Barking Lot rescue in San Diego.
“I’ll never forget the drive home, telling her that it was just us against the world now.”
Then Moore started telling of Joni’s characteristic features; she added that she has no doubt Joni knew “what an absolutely indispensable part of their lives and cherished soul she was.” After that, Moore wrote that her heart is totally broken after Joni’s tragic passing. The actor described her as her first and best friend and expressed she is so grateful for her endless company.
“There’s a deep chasm of emptiness that will never be filled but I am so grateful for her sweet nature and the endless connection, compassion, responsibility, patience and devotion that the love of a pet can bring into your orbit.”
By referring to her pregnancy, she also wrote that she is sad because Joni will not meet her human brother. As known, Moore announced in October through her verified Instagram account that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Taylor Goldsmith.
The expectant mother concluded her heartfelt tribute to her best friend of 13 years as follows:
“I will love and miss you forever, my Joni. Thank you for beyond a lifetime of love.”
