During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Margaret Qualley said her husband, Jack Antonoff, lied to Adam Sandler to help her get a role in ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’
“I saw that there was gonna to be a ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ and I emailed my agents right away and I said, ‘Anything it takes — no part is too small. Please. I gotta be a part of this, I’m begging you. Please. Whatever it takes,'” the actress said.
Host Jimmy Fallon then showed a text message chat between Antonoff and Sandler, where the star of ‘Murder Mystery 2’ asked, “Does your wife golf at all?” He replied, “Yeah she’s actually good.”
“What a good husband. And I can’t golf,” Qualley revealed. “He lied for the sake of the family. … I never golfed a day in my life. I’m terrible, actually.”
Sandler started filming ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ earlier this month in New Jersey. He shared a photo of his character’s Boston Bruins hockey jersey on a rack. He wrote, “It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun.”
Qualley also said on the show that Sandler was her ‘first crush’ and that ‘Happy Gilmore’ is her ‘favorite movie.’ “I adore Adam Sandler. Like everyone, I think he’s the greatest of all time,” she said on the show. “I met him on a red carpet once and at a party once, and … I probably scared him … I just told him I love him and that he’s the greatest.”
Netflix officially confirmed the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 cult classic in May. Along with Sandler, Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald are returning for the sequel. It also stars Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, Benny Safdie, and Lee Trevino.
