Margot Robbie doesn’t want to slow down after ‘Barbie’ — she is now on her way to bring ‘The Sims’ to life on the big screen.
‘The Sims’ is a game that lets players create and control virtual people and build them homes. Although the game is widely popular, efforts to turn it into a movie never got off the ground — until now.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Robbie is collaborating with Loki’s Kate Herron and Briony Redman for the production of ‘The Sims’ movie. Herron will direct the adaptation and co-write the screenplay with Briony Redman. Robbie will also work with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment and Electronic Arts.
Previous Attempts Were in Vain
This isn’t the first plan to adapt ‘The Sims’ into a movie. 20th Century Fox had plans for a live-action film back in 2007, but it never moved forward. Still, it seems some fans don’t think it will be successful:
“Don’t think that would be a good idea. It’s better off as a cartoon. Live action always spoils the real deal.”
Barbie’ was a massive box-office success that brought in $1.4 billion worldwide. Considering that, another fan said they trust Robbie:
“I saw what Margot Robbie did with ‘Barbie,’ so I know she can do something special with ‘The Sims.'”
‘The Sims’ is open-ended like ‘Barbie,’ so there’s no set storyline in the game.
