Marvel Exec Fears They Won’t Repeat ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Success In Future

Marvel Studios isn’t sure if they can ever match the success of ‘Endgame.’

Brad Winderbaum shared some worries about the MCU’s future in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Marvel Studios made a huge splash with ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019. It made almost $2.8 billion and became the top-earning film worldwide. However, Winderbaum is not sure if they can ever create a movie that successful again:

“When the Netflix shows were coming out and being made, we were building towards ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame.’ We were trying to balance all of these film franchises and get them to culminate onscreen in these two epic movies. To say it was a challenge is not even correct. It was one of the most challenging creative endeavors the studio ever undertook. I’m not sure there will ever be anything like it again in cinema. It took so much to get all that stuff to galvanize in that one place and in that one time so that people could have that experience in the movie theater.”

New Marvel Movies Aren’t As Popular

Still, Marvel continues working on two big Avengers movies. ‘The Marvels’ Iman Vellani thinks what they should do is to make sure fans really care about the characters:

“I don’t know if it’s about just getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Because then, like, what’s left? You know, I think it’s just about making the audience care about their characters. And I think they’ve established so many wonderful characters in the last phase of the MCU that it would be nice to see them all again and see them team up.”

Fans are hoping ‘Deadpool 3’ will start to turn things around. But there are other issues as well. They don’t know when they’ll see their favorite characters again. Shang-Chi had a successful movie in 2021, and news on when he’ll return finally came three years later. This is also true for the Eternals and Moon Knight.

You can watch ‘Avengers: Endgame’ on Disney+.
