On Valentine’s Day, Marvel’s official account tweeted a piece of art featuring The Fantastic Four in a casual holiday vibe, revealing the actors for the movie and giving a first glimpse at their costumes.
The shared image depicted The Thing, The Human Torch, The Invisible Woman, and Mr. Fantastic spending time together at home, complete with a festive ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ banner. Alongside the image, Marvel shared a note that not only wished fans a happy Valentine’s Day but also disclosed the movie’s pushed-back release date and the cast:
“Happy Valentine’s Day from Marvel’s First Family! Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are The Fantastic Four. Marvel Studios’ ‘The Fantastic Four,’ in theaters July 25, 2025.”
Initially planned for a May 2025 release, ‘The Fantastic Four’ will feature Pascal as Reed Richards, Kirby as Sue Storm, Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The villain the team will face off against has yet to be announced.
The Previous Rumors About The Cast
Pascal’s SAG-AFTRA profile previously mentioned the new Marvel film as a part of his acting schedule. The actor will likely finish filming for ‘The Last Of Us’ Season 2 before stepping into his role as Mr. Fantastic, reportedly this summer.
While talking about Pedro Pascal’s casting, news also mentioned Quinn, known as Eddie Munson in ‘Stranger Things,’ and Moss-Bachrach, a recent Emmy winner for his performance in ‘The Bear,’ as his co-stars.
Kirby, known for her work in ‘The Crown’ and her Oscar-nominated role in ‘Pieces of A Woman,’ had earlier expressed interest in playing Sue Storm during an interview with Variety. She said:
“It would be an honor to play Sue Storm. She’s amazing.”
Other Details From The Announcement
Meanwhile, the recent announcement also teased the new costumes for the film. While Grimm and Storm appeared in casual outfits in the art, Richards and Storm’s new uniform noded to the original Fantastic Four outfits, with a blue and white color scheme sporting the iconic ‘4’ logo at the center.
The poster’s art style, looking back on ‘Mad Men’ with The Thing reading an old LIFE magazine, suggested a 60s feel. It’s unclear if the film will be set in the 60s or simply draw inspiration from the era for its design, though.
Additionally, the film might introduce the robot H.E.R.B.I.E. in a significant role. The android was depicted offering a Valentine’s Day cup to The Thing in the new art.
In the comics, H.E.R.B.I.E. was initially designed by Mr. Fantastic to find Galactus and later became a key figure to Reed and Susan Richards’ son, Franklin. This detail hints at possible future storylines involving Galactus or Franklin in the MCU.
