Marvel Replaces Tom Holland For The Next ‘Spider-Man’ Project

Marvel Studios’ ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ will not feature Tom Holland.

The new voice of Spider-Man will be Hudson Thames according to a recent announcement at D23’s Marvel Animation presentation this year. Thames previously voiced the hero in ‘What If…?’

“I had no idea,” the actor said during the Disney event when asked if he expected to reprise the Marvel role in ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ (per The Direct). “It was kind of just a phone call in the middle of the day, I was like ‘I think you have the wrong guy’ and it just kind of happened out of the blue and was the most amazing surprise ever.”

The upcoming series will introduce a Spider-Man variant from an alternate universe unconnected to the Sacred Timeline (Earth-616). Still, some familiar actors, like Charlie Cox (Daredevil), will return as their MCU characters.

Doctor Strange will be one of the heroes to appear in the animation though it’s not yet confirmed if Benedict Cumberbatch will voice him again after ‘What If…?’

Marvel Studios announced the new project as ‘Spider-Man: Freshman Year’ in November 2021 but renamed it ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ by December 2023.

The show will debut on Disney+ in late 2024 to explore Peter Parker’s origin story in an alternate timeline. The cast will feature Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn in a visual aesthetic inspired by the early Spider-Man comics.

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will return in ‘Spider-Man 4’ soon. According to Kevin Feige, the project is currently in development and expected to come out before 2026’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
