Marvel Reportedly Eyeing Gwyneth Paltrow For Avengers: Doomsday And Secret Wars Comeback

She played Pepper Potts seemingly for the last time in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Marvel Studios is now looking to bring Gwyneth Paltrow back for the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ according to insider Daniel Richtman. However, Richtman noted that it is unclear if the actress has entered talks about the role yet.

Paltrow originally played Pepper Potts in 2008’s ‘Iron Man,’ appearing in several other MCU titles over the years. She suited up as Rescue in ‘Endgame’ and got more screen time than before but admitted that she has not watched her last Marvel movie yet.

“To be honest, I stopped watching them at some point,” the Oscar-winner said of Marvel projects at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. “I’ve never seen ‘Endgame.’ I can’t keep track of who’s what. But I probably should at some point.”

She then explained, “The first film we did was very different from the rest because the studio didn’t think it was going to be a big hit. They hired Jon Favreau to direct, who was great. And they hired Robert Downey Jr., who was unhireable at the time. His career was at a very low point.”

“We improvised almost every scene of that movie. We would write scenes in the morning in Jon’s trailer. It was like doing an independent film. Then, the movie was such a huge hit that then we didn’t make them like that anymore.”

Paltrow previously said she stepped away from the MCU due to Tony Stark’s death in ‘Endgame.’ During a Q&A with fans on Instagram, she asked, “Why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man?”

Robert Downey Jr. is now back in the MCU as the ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ main villain Doctor Doom. The upcoming films will likely reunite him with some of his co-stars like Tom Holland. So, the chances for Paltrow’s return aren’t so low.
