Marvel’s Phase 6 Movies Rescheduled: ’Thunderbolts’ Fans, Don’t Worry This Is Your Moment

Marvel Studios recently made headlines by announcing changes to their upcoming movie release schedule, impacting the start of Phase 6 of the MCU.

Marvel mixed around the release dates for ‘The Fantastic Four’ and ‘Thunderbolts.’

Due to unexpected delays from the COVID pandemic and strikes in Hollywood in 2023, the studio’s movie calendar has been a bit of a puzzle. They’ve had to move around the release dates for several movies, and it looks like they’re doing it again with these two.

Disney has now said that ‘Thunderbolts’ will come out on May 2, 2025, while ‘The Fantastic Four’ will land in theaters on July 25, 2025. Basically, the two movies have swapped spots.

The Details From The Upcoming Films

‘Thunderbolts’ is going to be directed by Jake Schreier and will feature a bunch of well-known characters, including Florence Pugh’s Yelena, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, and Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, to name a few. This movie will bring together a mix of anti-heroes and villains from the Marvel world in a mission from the government.

Meanwhile, the new ‘Fantastic Four’ movie will have Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the superhero family. The studio confirmed who’s playing these roles with a special announcement on Valentine’s Day, putting all the rumors to rest.

The Change’s Effect On Phase 6

Right now, Marvel is wrapping up Phase Five, which will end in February 2025 with ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ After that, Phase Six will start with ‘Thunderbolts’ and will also include ‘The Fantastic Four,’ ‘Blade,’ ‘Avengers 5,’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

This schedule change actually puts things back to how Kevin Feige originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022. He had said ‘Thunderbolts’ would end Phase 5 and ‘The Fantastic Four’ would start Phase 6, and now that’s exactly what’s happening.

You can see the new release order for the upcoming Marvel films based on the recent updates below:

    • ‘The Fantastic Four’ on July 25, 2025
    • ‘Blade’ on November 7, 2025
    • An untitled Marvel movie on February 13, 2026
    • ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ on May 1, 2026
    • Another untitled Marvel movie on July 24, 2026
    • Yet another untitled Marvel movie on November 11, 2026
    • ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ on May 7, 2027

‘Spider-Man 4’ is also expected to be part of Phase 6, but they haven’t set a date yet because they’re still writing it. ‘Armor Wars’ and ‘Shang-Chi 2’ might fill some of the slots for the untitled movies, and there could also be sequels like ‘Eternals 2’ and ‘Doctor Strange 3’ coming up.
