Maya Hawke Is Heartbroken About ‘Stranger Things’ Ending

Maya Hawke shares her thoughts on the ending of ‘Stranger Things.’

Maya Hawke feels sorry that ‘Stranger Things’ is coming to an end.

The actress recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight at Monday’s premiere of ‘Inside Out 2’ and said she finds it hard to say goodbye after three seasons:

“It’s already starting to be heartbreaking. I mean it’s the end of a really long journey. Longer for some of my castmates, even, than me. It’s really sentimental.”

Other Statements On The Show’s Final Season

The upcoming fifth season will be the last season of ‘Stranger Things.’ In February, ‘Stranger Things’ producer Shawn Levy told People what to expect from the final season:

“If I was a fan who had nothing to do with ‘Stranger Things,’ I would presume that the final season was going to be big in scale. But I’d also want to note that the heart and soul of that show, which is its characters, are intact and are as central as spectacle. And indeed, they are.”

When the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, announced the fifth season would be the last, fans felt sad but not surprised. They wrote in an open letter:

“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for ‘Stranger Things.’ At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four but — as you’ll see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale.”

‘Stranger Things’ Became Really Popular

When the sci-fi series hit Netflix in July 2016, it became a surprise hit. The young stars were mostly in their early teens, and Winona Ryder was a big draw.

Since then, ‘Stranger Things’ has broken several Netflix records. Season four set a Nielsen record with over 7 billion minutes watched in one week, making it the most-streamed series of the year.

The final season of ‘Stranger Things was’ supposed to start filming last summer but was delayed by writers and actors strikes. The Duffer brothers paused writing on May 6 when the WGA strike began. After the strike ended, they announced they were back to work. In January 2024, Netflix said the final season is now officially in production.
