A new rumor reveals how Marvel Studios plans to phase out Kang and bring in Doctor Doom as the new big villain. This change might already be happening, and here’s how it all breaks down.
According to Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, Marvel Studios plans to write Kang out of the story by implying that the Time Variance Authority dealt with his Variants before they could start a war. This means the ‘Ant-Man’ threequel’s post-credits scene and Kang’s story might remain unresolved.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ are still being written, so these plans could change. But it looks like Kang won’t be a major part of them.
We First Saw Kang In ‘Loki’
Kang first appeared at the end of Loki’s first season in his ‘He Who Remains’ form. After a big Multiversal War, he was the last Kang left and created his own Sacred Timeline to rule forever. But, tired of being stuck at the end of time, he hoped Loki and Sylvie would take over for him. Sylvie killed him instead.
This was part of his plan since he knew he’d be resurrected after the Time Loom broke.
Loki chose a different path and created a new Multiverse powered by him to allow everyone free will and give the TVA time to prepare for a war with Kang’s Variants. We saw one of these Variants, Kang the Conqueror, in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.’ The Council of Kangs trapped him in the Quantum Realm because he was a threat to their plans.
In Loki season 2, the TVA said they were keeping an eye on Kang’s Variants.
RDJ is Introduced As Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom is set to take Kang’s place as the main villain. Robert Downey Jr. is rumored to be the new big bad after Jonathan Majors, who played Kang. Doom doesn’t exist in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ universe yet, but that could change after a recent announcement.
It now seems like Marvel Studios is moving away from Kang and gearing up to introduce Doctor Doom as the next major villain in the MCU.
