The unique cast of the teen comedy film ‘Mean Girls’ came together on October 3 – the ‘Mean Girls Day’ for a good cause, as part of the #GoodToVote campaign. The cast including Tina Fey, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried, reunited to urge people to vote for this year’s November 3 presidential election.
The moderator Katie Couric, who is a television and online journalist, presenter, and producer said:
“It’s anything but mean to encourage people to vote. I love the fact that this reunion happened because everyone from Ms. Norbury to Regina George care about our democracy.”
Lacey Chabert, who portrayed ‘Gretchen Carlson,’ in the cult movie, encouraged fans with recognizable “Mean Girls slang:”
“Vote on November 3rd. That would be so fetch.”
Couric uploaded the video of reunion to her verified Instagram and added the following caption:
“Something fun for this tumultuous time. Thanks to all of you, we reached our goal with @headcountorg to get over 5,000 voter activations! To celebrate that – Tina Fey and I got the whole gang back together for a Mean Girls Reunion! Happy #MeanGirlsDay 😃”
‘Mean Girls’ directed by Mark Waters, and written by Tina Fey, was released April 19, 2004, through Paramount Pictures. The said film, based on Rosalind Wiseman’s non-fiction self-help book, ‘Queen Bees and Wannabes,’ grossed $129 million worldwide. Lindsay Lohan, who played ‘Cady Heron,’ three Teen Choice Awards and one MTV Movie Award for her role.
