During a recent appearance on Collider’s Ladies Night, Mellisa Benoist credited her time on ‘Glee’ with building her confidence to handle the role of Supergirl, explaining:
“What I learned on ‘Glee’ was that I was a really hard worker and that I could do really. hard things, because the schedule on that show was grueling because there were so many moving parts. It was fun but tough. I’m sure if you’ve had anyone else from the show on here, they’ve said the same thing.”
Benoist Finds Her ‘Glee’ Experience Helpful
The actress further talked about what was challenging in ‘Glee’:
“You had to rehearse the dances, you had to prerecord the songs, then you had to film the songs, and filming the songs were a lot longer. They took hours and hours and hours. And then you also had the scene work. I knew that ‘Supergirl’ was going to carry a lot of pressure, and the responsibilities were going to be immense, and I think my experience on ‘Glee’ gave me the belief that I had the ability to carry Supergirl.”
Benoist starred as Supergirl for six seasons on The CW’s Arrowverse series. The actress played Marley Rose on ‘Glee’ for two seasons. She then starred in ‘Supergirl,’ which started on CBS and later moved to The CW along with ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash.’ ‘Supergirl’ ran for six seasons, ending in 2021. In a crossover with ‘The Flash,’ she teamed up with another ‘Glee’ member, Grant Gustin, in a musical episode.
After ‘Supergirl,’ Benoist recently starred in Max’s ‘The Girls on the Bus.’ The show, based on Amy Chozick’s memoir, was canceled this year after one season. Benoist played Sadie McCarthy alongside Carla Gugino, Natasha Benham, Christina Elmore, and others.
