Actress and comedian Mandy Kaling, who gained recognition for her role as ‘Kelly Kapoor’ in NBC’s ‘The Office’ commemorated the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks by sharing a statement through her verified Instagram account.
Kaling posted a picture of the World Trade Center and remembered 3,000 people who died in the worst terrorist attack in the United States history. As remember, on September 11, 2001, four hijacked airliners were crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the field in Shanksville.
The 41-year-old actress wrote:
“I moved to New York a month before 9/11 at age 21 to try to make it as a comedy writer. I felt so overwhelmed and innocent. Then a month later, everyone lost their innocence.”
Then Kaling described New York as the greatest city in the world, and stated that the city strengthened despite this series of terrorist attacks:
“The heroism of the first responders and the families who survived those killed made an indelible mark on me. It strengthened New York in a way that made me fully realize why it’s the greatest city in the world.”
The actress urged her fans and followers not to forget about the deadliest terrorist attack in human history:
“I went there with an idea of the place but it took living there through 9/11 to understand its true majesty. Never forget.”
