Actress Mindy Kaling, best known for portraying ‘Kelly Kapoor’ in the NBC sitcom ‘The Office’ announced that she welcomed a son, who is named Spencer, during an appearance on ‘The Late Show’ with Stephen Colbert.
In the course of the virtual interview, Colbert said:
“I got something I rarely get these days, which is good news, so if you wouldn’t mind sharing with our audience I think they’d be thrilled to find out something extraordinary that nobody knows up until this moment.”
Actress, who had not previously revealed she was pregnant, replied to him as follows:
“Yes, I’m telling it for the first time now. It feels so strange. But I gave birth to a baby boy on 3 September 3.”
Following this surprise announcement, Colbert highlighted that the news was not known by anybody so far, and the author of ‘Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)’ added:
”I know! I know! This is news to a lot of people. It’s true.“
As known, Kaling gave birth to first daughter Katherine Swati in December 2017, and did not reveal the identity of her child’s biological father. In 2019, during an interview with the New York Times, the actress explained her decision:
“My feeling is that, until I speak to my daughter about that, I’m not going to talk to anyone else about it.”
