Academy Award nominee, Naomi Watts announced a piece of exciting news through Instagram.
Watts, posted a series of throwback BTS photos from 2012 dated, disaster drama film, ‘The Impossible,’ and expressed her happiness derived from the film being the no.1 movie on Netflix. Alongside the snaps, in one of which Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland smiling, with dust on face, the actor added the news regarding the movie, directed by J. A. Bayona and written by Sergio G. Sánchez.
“Heard The Impossible is #1 on @netflix !! Wowza!! Here’s a few #tb pics.”
The ’21 Grams’ star then described the film as one of her favorite filming experiences because she was able to tell the incredible story of María Belón, who could survive the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The tsunami, the subject of the movie, took more than 200.000 lives around 14 different countries, in real. Fortunately, Belon’s entire family could find each other at the hospital after a few days they had rescued.
As widely known, ‘The Impossible’ centers on the experience of doctor ‘Maria Bennett’ (as Watts) and her family, including husband ‘Henry’ (as McGregor), elder son ‘Lucas’ (as Holland), and Thomas (as Samuel Joslin).
For her performance in the film, Watts received several notable nominations including, Academy Award for Best Actress, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama.
The film, released on 11 October 2012, received high praise from critics and viewers both for the actors’ performance and the storyline. ‘The Impossible’ is now available to watch on Netflix.
