Natasha Lyonne Joins ‘What If…?’ Season 3 For Mysterious Superhero Role

Lyonne is set to make her Marvel debut sooner than expected.

‘What If…?’ season 3 has added Natasha Lyonne as a new superhero character.

Marvel Studios has put together a strong cast for ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ Leading the team are Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, with support from Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Lyonne.

Lyonne’s role is still unknown, but fans think she might play characters like Alicia Masters or even voice H.E.R.B.I.E.

It’s a surprise to see Natasha Lyonne join ‘What If…?’ season 3 as a new superhero. Disney confirmed she plays Byrdie, a character who flies alongside Captain Carter and Kahhori.

The only similar comic character, Birdy, is a mutant with no wings, so it’s unlikely there’s a link. Byrdie, who appears to have wings, could be an alternate-reality ‘Falcon.’

‘What If…?’ season 3 has a great voice cast with stars returning to play their famous roles. The season includes characters like Captain America/Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, Hulk, The Red Guardian, Captain Peggy Carter, Agatha Harkness, Shang-Chi, Storm, and more.

With the third and final season of ‘What If…?’ coming soon, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, promised the season will honor Wright’s Uatu and give the animated series a proper ending.

“It feels like the completion of a trilogy,” Winderbaum said during an episode of The Official Marvel Podcast. “It takes us to places that you’d never expect. It goes beyond the first two seasons in its exploration of the multiverse. It pulls in characters that are very unexpected and has what I think is an extremely moving and very fulfilling culmination for Uatu the Watcher.”

The episodes are directed by Bryan Andrews and Stephan Franck, with writers Matthew Chauncey, Ryan Little, and A.C. Bradley. The executive producers are Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, and Bryan Andrews.

Co-executive producer is Matthew Chauncey, and producers include Danielle Costa, Carrie Wassenaar, and Alex Scharf. Season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on December 22, with new episodes every day for 8 days.
