It’s Been Three Decades Since The Last Movie
The original ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ movie was released in 1984. It was followed by two sequels: ‘Beverly Hills Cop II’ in 1987 and ‘Beverly Hills Cop III’ in 1994. So, this new movie comes 30 years after the last sequel.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’s Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the film, and Mark Molloy is the director. Bruckheimer shared with Tudum that Eddie Murphy still has the same energy and humor that made Axel Foley who he was:
“Eddie’s such an incredible artist. He can do drama, he can do comedy – he can do anything. And he’s the same Axel Foley. He’s still on the streets. He’s still doing what he does. Obviously, with age, you get wiser. But he still has the twinkle in his eye.”
Molloy adds that some of the funniest moments in the movie are when Eddie Murphy improvises:
“Some of the funniest moments in ‘Axel F’ are when Eddie’s improvising. For me, a big part of my job was to create the right environment, cast the right people around Eddie to allow him to do what he does best.”
‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.’ will be available on Netflix starting July 3, 2024. You can rewatch the original movies on Netflix while waiting for the new release.
