Netflix’s ‘Beef’ Renewed For Season 2, But With A Twist

‘Beef’ is returning for Season 2 with a fresh cast and plot.

‘Beef’ is officially coming back for a second season on Netflix.

The first season starred Ali Wong and Steven Yeun and told a complete story. Netflix now confirmed that the new season will feature a fresh cast and a new plot.

This time around, the main stars will be Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan. The two previously worked together in ‘Drive’ and ‘Inside Llewyn Davis.’ Joining them are Charles Melton (‘May December’) and Cailee Spaeny (‘Alien: Romulus’). Ali Wong and Steven Yeun will not appear in Season 2, but they will still be involved as executive producers.

The story for Season 2 will focus on two different couples who get caught up in the same event. A younger couple sees a fight between their boss and his wife at a country club. This leads to a series of manipulative actions in the world of the country club’s wealthy members owned by a Korean billionaire. It looks like Isaac and Mulligan will play the boss and his wife, and Melton and Spaeny will portray the young couple.

Netflix and A24 are once again teaming up for this new season. Lee Sung Jin is returning as the show’s creator and showrunner. ‘Beef’ will still have the same creative team, but Season 2 will be shorter with only eight half-hour episodes.

There is no official word yet on when ‘Beef’ Season 2 will start filming or when it will be released on Netflix. Early reports suggested that Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway might take on the lead roles, but Netflix went with Isaac and Mulligan instead.
