Netflix star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who recently garnered media attention after she had stated that finding former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of the murder of George Floyd is not justice, went to her verified Instagram account with a celebration post.
Ramakrishnan, who is portraying a high school girl named ‘Devi Vishwakumar‘ in the Netflix teen-comedy series ‘Never Have I Ever,’ released a photo of herself, sitting on a couch, chilling in a hoodie and leggings. Ramakrishnan clarified the photo by saying that she posted it to celebrate her Film Independent Spirit Award nomination.
As fans might know, the 19-year-old star was nominated at Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Performance in a New Scripted Series for her performance in ‘Never Have I Ever.’
Just hours after the nomination announcement, the young actor uploaded the photo which is the proof of her low-key celebration, and wrote the following message in the caption section:
“Chilling in my hoodie and leggings I am so honoured to be nominated for a film independent spirit award.”
The actor, who previously received MTV Movie and TV Award and Canadian Screen Award, continued her message as follows:
“Thank you for @filmindependent for this nomination and a huge thank you to my fellow cast, crew, and of course amazing fans.”
The 2021 Independent Spirit Awards will be presented on April 23.
