New Pirates Movie Asks Fans Not To Wait For ‘Certain Actors’

It seems the next movie in the series will start from the beginning with new ideas, leaving Jack Sparrow behind.

Disney is planning a new Pirates movie, but it’s going to be a bit different from what fans are used to. According to a new ComicBook interview, the movie’s producer thinks of it as a fresh start or a ‘reboot’ and says fans shouldn’t wait for ‘certain actors.’

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer chatted with ComicBook about this new direction. He explained that making this next Pirates movie is a bit easier because they’re not waiting for any specific actors to come on board:

“You just don’t know. Because with ‘Top Gun’ you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does ‘Top Gun,’ I can’t tell you. But we’re gonna reboot ‘Pirates,’ so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”

The ‘Top Gun’ actor Bruckeimer talks about is, of course, Tom Cruise. He implies that the new ‘Top Gun’ movie depends on Cruise’s busy schedule.

It’s More Than Highly That Depp Won’t Be In It

It’s been seven years since the last Pirates movie came out. Since then, there’s been a lot of talk about what’s next for the series. Some ideas included a movie with actress Margot Robbie as the lead and bringing back Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow. However, it looks like the plan now is to start from scratch with completely new ideas and faces.

Depp might not be part of this new adventure. There have been rumors about him coming back as a side character, but the focus on new characters and stories means we might not see him this time around. It’s reported that Ayo Edebiri is considered for a lead role.

Craig Mazin and Ted Elliot started writing ‘Pirates 6’ last year. As for now, it doesn’t have a release date yet.
