New Thor Actor Claims His Version Will Be Better Than MCU’s

Pilou Asbæk voices a rougher, more traditional Thor in the upcoming Netflix series ‘Twilight of the Gods.’

A new face is set to voice Thor in an upcoming animated series, and he believes his take will stand out from the rest.

Pilou Asbæk will be playing Thor in Zack Snyder’s ‘Twilight of the Gods.’ He recently told Looper that his version will be rougher than the Thor played by Chris Hemsworth in MCU:

“What you have to remember is I am Scandinavian. Thor is my legacy… It’s what I’ve been raised in the Nordic countries, in the north of Europe. My Thor is closer to how he was written. He is a brute — impolite, rogue, brutal, and doesn’t give a sh*t about anyone.”

He Has Respect For Hemsworth

Asbæk is excited about his role, but he respects what Hemsworth does with Thor. He is not trying to compare his Thor with Hemsworth’s, though. He appreciates the actor’s work but wants to show a different side of Thor:

“Hemsworth is doing incredible work, and I don’t want to compare myself to the Thor that he did because it is iconic and fun and spot-on with the character. He has found a great voice within Marvel with that character and did incredible work. I got to give it to him.”

‘Twilight of the Gods’ is Coming This Fall

‘Twilight of the Gods’ is created by Zack Snyder, and it will appear on Netflix this fall. Snyder teamed up with Jay Oliva to make this show based on old Norse stories.

In ‘Twilight of the Gods,’ Asbæk wants to bring Thor to life in a way that feels true to his Scandinavian roots. It seems his Thor does not care much about what others think, and this is something he feels is closer to the original stories written about him.

‘Twilight of the Gods’ has a voice cast featuring Sylvia Hoeks as Sigrid, Stuart Martin as Leif, and John Noble as Odin. Snyder recently shared a still from the show, and you can see it below.
