Nico Parker Is Nervous About Satisfying ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ Fans

She admits feeling both nervous about the fan expectations and excited to be part of the story’s new chapter.

In a recent interview with Collider, Nico Parker openly shared her feelings about starring in ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ as Astrid, admitting she’s a bit concerned.

During the conversation, Parker expressed she’s aware of the importance of ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ to its fans, and her wish is to honor that legacy:

“I’m nervous about all of it because I care about it so much and everyone cares about it so much, and I just so would love to make everyone proud. I’m constantly nervous about it. But to me, there was no reason to not do it.”

She then added that her commitment to the project is influenced by her discussions with DeBlois and the talented team involved:

“It’s being made with such brilliant people and everyone’s so talented and everyone cares about it so deeply. After I spoke to Dean [DeBlois], the director who also made the animated movies, I was just like, how could anyone not want to be involved in it? It’s amazing. It’s stressful, but I’m very, very excited for it to be finished and out into the world and everyone can experience it.”

Latest Updates on ‘How to Train Your Dragon’

The live-action version of ‘How to Train Your Dragon‘ is helmed by Dean DeBlois, who directed the original animated trilogy and is now bringing his vision to the live-action version.

Announced initially in February 2023, with a planned release date in March 2025, the film’s launch was pushed to June 2025 due to delays stemming from the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Besides Nico Parker, the film also stars Mason Thames, Nick Frost, and Julian Dennison, and sees Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick the Vast.

Parker, who enjoyed a breakthrough with her role as Sarah in HBO’s ‘The Last of Us,’ is also starring opposite Woody Harrelson and Laura Linney in ‘Suncoast,‘ which opens in theaters today before its Hulu release on February 9.

‘How to Train Your Dragon’ is scheduled for a June 13, 2025, release.
